Where do you work?
Our focus has been the Hindu communities that have settled throughout the NYC metro area.
Describe what you do.
We keep learning how to share the gospel with Hindu families in ways that resonate with them and coach those who are open toward deeper levels of discipleship to Jesus. We also post gospel content online in South Asia.
Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?
While Tim was in college, he went to his first mission’s conference. When he learned about least reached people groups in India, he decided to focus his life to become a missionary among these people. Melanie grew up in East Africa where there are many thousands of Hindu people.
When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?
Tim was 19 in 1979 and Melanie was 20 in 1984
Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?
Both of us were proactively seeking to know what God wanted us to do with our lives. Our love for God compelled us to obey him. We decided to become missionaries because our sense of life purpose to deliver the gospel to Hindu communities was very much in sync with what we understood about missions. Over time, we realized that this calling and ministry was a gift which God gave us. He gave us a meaningful life.
Have you had other occupations?
Tim was an adjunct professor of ESL for 17 years. Melanie was an administrative assistant for 5 years.
Hobbies or other interests?
Tim reads epic fantasy and Melanie cooks food from all over the world.
